Bounce Rate: Lack Of Understanding Is A Complete Failure To Webmasters

By Jerry J. Jansen On March 17, 2010 NO COMMENTS

What is bounce rate?

Bounce rate is a percentage used to measure a single-page visit. A high bounce rate indicates a large number of visitors only view a single page of a website then leave without visiting other pages. In other word, the landing page fail to meet the visitors need. The landing page is unable to provide the information and services that were promised in the ad copy.

Whereas, a low bounce rate is a scale used to measure a better landing page of a website. The more compelling your landing page, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert. A truly compelling landing page attracts the visitors to stay on and go deeper into the content of the website, and is scaled within a specific time-frame.

In a nutshell, bounce rate is a scale used to determine the effectiveness and attractiveness of a landing page of a website to a visitor. Avinash Kaushik from Google analytics specialist has stated that it is really hard to get a bounce rate under 20%, anything over 35% is cause for concern, 50% and above is worrying.

This percentage is calculated by:

Bounce Rate = Total Numbers of Visits Viewing One Page / Total Number

Have you decided to give an online venture a shot? It is something almost everyone wants to try out these days. Want to know how to make that static site of yours more appealing to visitors and more interactive? The answer is simple – WordPress blogs. By merely adding on a blog to your site you can gain tremendous advantages.

Communication Channel: You are opening up a constant communication channel with your existing and potential clients. If you need to get the word out about a discount sale, you can use the blog. If you are launching a new product you can start pre-sell on the blog ages before it hits the market. You can use the comments and feedback that you get from your blog visitors to improve your existing products and services. You can actually learn what they want from you, rather than give them what you want to.

However there are some drawbacks to having a blog on your website as well. A blog spells a major commitment to fresh content. The purpose of the blog is to inspire confidence in your clientele, both existing and potential. That purpose cannot be met if the blog does not

How Important Is Good Website Navigation

By Jerry J. Jansen On March 14, 2010 NO COMMENTS

Navigation is how easy is your site to navigate? Can users easily find the information they want and fairly quickly. This sounds very simple but it is sometimes something that is forgotten when a website design is in progress. When you are getting the website designed you can so easily get over involved with the look and feel of the site and overlook things such as:

Menus
Footers
Sitemaps
Image links

Menus are one of the main components and things to consider with menus are:

Where are they going to be positioned?
Will they be text based or images?
Will they link to the right page?

When we look at positioning of menus I believe that you have three options, you can place it at the top of the site, the left hand side or the right hand side. The strongest options are definitely along the top and the right hand side. You can actually choose both options if you have a lot of pages to navigate. They have to go where the user will look for them naturally making navigation simple.

Will the images be text based or an image, remembering that search engines cannot read images. So text based is the best option but if it will compromise
